We've made this really easy for you to do.
Your file MUST be in mp3 format to work with JigsawBox and will be hosted securely on our servers for you.
Simply place your cursor in the module content box exactly where you want your file to upload. Wherever your cursor is, is the place your audio will upload to, so do make sure you are in the right spot before you upload, or if you need to move it, follow the direction in the Move Audio section below.
Click the little 'speaker' symbol in the row of buttons in the module content toolbar. You see this toolbar in the content box section of any module.
A new pop-up box will appear, click the Browse button.
This will bring up a new box and you will need to find the mp3 file on your computer. Click on the mp3 file where you have it stored on your computer and click Select or Open (dependent on your computer what this will say)
Next, click the Upload MP3 button. Please only click the button ONE time. Depending on the file size of your mp3 it may take several minutes to upload.
You will know that your file is done uploading when the Browse... button disappears completely.
When the browser button disappears, you can now click the OK button.
After you click the OK button you will be returned to your module. You will typically see NOTHING in your module in this view. Some people may see the words flash typed in this area, but most of you will see nothing at all.
However, if you click the HTML button from the toolbar, you will see some code that looks similar to this: <object data="/public/flash/player.....this is the HTML code for your audio.
You must now scroll down the page and click the Save button for your module.
You will now be taken back to the main module page.
To now see your audio player, click the Preview button next to the module.
You will now see your audio player and can test it to make sure it plays correctly.
How to move or delete your audio player:
If you need to delete your audio file or move it to a different place in your module, go into your module.
Click the HTML button.
This will show you all of the HTML code for all the information in your module.
Look for the audio HTML code, it will start with:<object data="/public/flash/player.....
Then simply delete all of the code to delete the audio file, or cut the code and paste it to the location where you want the audio file to be.
NOTE: there is no limit to the size of file you can upload in the audio area.
The technique listed above displays an audio player right in your JigsawBox.
If you also wish to provide your clients with an option to download your mp3, you have two options:
If you have uploaded your mp3 file directly to JigsawBox...
You will have a link to the audio file that you can use as a download link. After you upload the mp3 directly to JigsawBox, click the HTML tab. You will see HTML code that looks like this:
<object data="/public/flash/player_mp3_maxi.swf" height="20" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="200"><param name="movie" value="/public/flash/player_mp3_maxi.swf" /><param name="bgcolor" value="#ffffff" /><param name="FlashVars" value="showstop=1&showvolume=1&mp3=https://www.jigsawbox.com/documents/25121/YOURFILENAME.mp3" /></object></p>
The download link is found in this code - see the bold text above for where you can find your link. It will always begin with https://www.jigsawbox.com and will always end with .mp3.
Copy this link.
Click off the HTML button to return to the normal view.
Now follow the directions below for how to add this as a download link.
If you are NOT uploading your mp3 file directly into JigsawBox:
If you only want a download link, you will need to store your audio outside of JigsawBox using a site like Screencast.com, Audio Acrobat, Amazon S3, etc.
You will upload your mp3 to one of those audio storage sites and obtain a download link from that site.
Once you have your link to your mp3 file, either from JigsawBox or your own storage site, follow these steps...
In your JigsawBox module add some text like: To download this audio, click the download link below. You can then type the words: DOWNLOAD LINK and hyperlink this text to the mp3 download link you have obtained from your audio storage host.
If you do offer a download link you may wish to let your clients know that to download they will need to right-click the link and select Save Target As or Save Link As if using a PC or if using a MAC to hit the Control key and select the Save Target As or Save Link As option.
Example wording for your module:
To download this audio, click the link below:
DOWNLOAD LINK (this text would be hyperlinked to your download link!)
(PC-users right click the above link and select Save As or Save Target As, MAC users hit the Control key and select Save Link As)
NOTE: if you do NOT have your audio file in mp3 format, you can either do a Google search for a free program to convert your audio file to mp3 format, or you can follow the instructions for uploading a video found here, http://jigsawbox.zendesk.com/entries/329734-how-do-i-add-a-video
BROWSER ISSUE: The Google Chrome browser has a bug that affects SOME users. This bug will not permit some users to pause an mp3 file. This bug is not isolated to JigsawBox, if a user has the issue they will have the issue across every single website they visit where they wish to play an mp3 file. If you want to read more about this Google Chrome issue click here. If you experience this problem, you must contact Google Chrome for help as this is not a JigsawBox issue and JigsawBox can not fix this issue with that internet browser. Please use a different web browser if you experience this trouble.
